TechSmith Relay

Announcement: TechSmith Relay to Kaltura CaptureSpace

In the summer of 2018, NJIT will be replacing TechSmith Relay, our desktop capture software, with Kaltura CaptureSpace. It has the same functionality as Relay, but features a number of enhancements. These include:

  • Improved editing tools
  • Ability to add titles
  • Hosted in the cloud for enhanced reliability
  • Can record with desktop and webcam simultaneously
  • Integrated with Moodle
  • Machine-generated automated captions

Users may continue to use TechSmith Relay for Spring 2018, but are encouraged to begin using Kaltura CaptureSpace immediately. You can access CaptureSpace at and also within Moodle. Please see our tutorial on using CaptureSpace here.

For our TechSmith Relay users, we wanted to reach out to let you know about this change directly. Your current recordings will still be available for the time being; however, we recommend you put in a request to have them migrated over to Kaltura.

Request to Migrate Old Recordings

The Office of Digital Learning and Technology Support has set up a Google form where you can request to have your recordings migrated. You can access the form here. Once your recordings are migrated, you will be able to access them directly in Kaltura.

If you have any questions about this change we recommend to get in touch with the IST Service Desk.
